Young Widows - The Muted Man
Просмотров 42 тыс.13 лет назад
In and Out of Youth and Lightness was produced by Young Widows and Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket) at The Funeral Home in their hometown of Louisville, KY. The musical palette remains fundamentally the same-singer-guitarist Evan Patterson's cavernous, warped blues riffs weighted by Nick Thieneman's earth-shaking bass and drummer Jeremy McMonigle's sturdy, shifting rhythms-but the augmented ...
Swanox - Dawnrunner
Просмотров 8 тыс.13 лет назад
California slacker Anthony Boruch aka Swanox who's made my day with his terrific Dawnrunner, a cassette just short of the forty minute mark that is a splendid take on slowly meandering, noise infused psychedelia, a night ride to dark yet appealing places. Britt Brown has dubbed this "loner drone-folk", and this just about nails it. Recorded at his San Francisco home on a Fostex X-12 over a peri...

Hymies Basement - Ghost Dream
Просмотров 53 тыс.14 лет назад
Hymie's Basement is a collaboration of anticon and cLOUDDEAD singer, lyricist, rapper producer Yoni Wolf (aka Why?) and singer, turntablist, guitarist Andrew Broder (aka Fog), released in 2003 via Lex Records. Combining elements of rap, folk and indie, the duo created a what has often been referred to as a thinking mans melodic hip hop record. Songs range from the happy pop like chorus of 21st ...
Saw them open for Autolux at the Bottleneck in Lawerence KS in about '09. What a phenomenal show <3
This track has put me into an almost permanent state of lucidity since first hearing it so many years ago. So many years ago it was and it still hits me like the first time
wonderful
God this is beautiful
6+ years later, here's the lyrics Also to me they sound a lot like the Beatles in their early years in this song Laura, I see the vagabond on the hill And it's the finest way to feel. Tell me, Laura. I got your D-list on the way. Put your helmet under kid. Tell me, Laura. Hell, you're talking way too fast. To figure out the in's and out's. Talk about the end. Oh, the world is getting clear. Good to know your co-sign. Call me in the morning. Laura. I bet you anything you'll resign. Within the constant tie v tie. Tell me, Laura. I wish she couldn't afford a phone. Then I could be here on the tone. Tell me, Laura. Hell, you're talking way too fast. To figure out the in's and out's. Talk about the end. Oh, the world is getting clear. Good to know your co-sign. Call me in the morning. Laura. Hell, you're talking way too fast. And figure out the in's and out's. Talk about the end. Oh, the world is getting clear. Good to know your co-sign. Call me in the morning.
thank you so much..! The resemblance to the Beatles is uncanny..love them both..
that picture is fantastic
beautiful footage
Here in San Diego in 2020... this is so fucking great!
Lyrics: After salvaging a good but rotting wood bass guitar On a late night trip to the city dump The man with the dirty disco twelve inch hands Got in his light blue van And heading to the school dance He noticed cold water creeping up the cuffs of his pants He swerved to dodge two people Planting flowers in the middle of the on-ramp And as the water level in the van, it began to rise He attributed the water to the bass guitar (and that's probably why it was in the trash in the first place) And as the water got to the bottom of his ribcage He thought about his laundry in the back And the brand new dress shirt And how the water'd sog the starch right out of the collar He probably should have pulled right over to the shoulder But he was late for the dance And he couldn't reach the bass from where he sat To throw it out the window He was five minutes from where the function was And he could hold his breath for two or so minutes if he must Brand new skinny ghost I don't trust tall dudes as far as I can throw 'em - that isn't far Meet your brand new angel monster Microwave, meet your maker But if i could, I'd throw 'em head first into the ground like a javelin. And leave 'em there. Feet protruding out of the dirt like his headstone: here lies tall dude Brand new skinny ghost Meet your brand new angel monster Microwave, meet your maker Brand new skinny ghost Meet your brand new angel monster Microwave, meet your maker
F'in awesome. Hard to create a mood like that, so grim. Respect
just them live tonight. great band
If I had to list the greatest songs of all time. This wouldn’t make the list. Only because it’s more then just a song.
Why Drone?
Still learning how to fly. Until then... drone works.
Well done. Can I ask what cameras were used? Very smooth video while riding.
Thanks Kevin, everything in this video was shot on an iPhone 8. It does a decent job of stabilizing the image while riding.
Great video! More of these.

this song is way too fast, to figure out the ends and outs.. I'd like to pick the minds of the ones who write these lyrics!
i cant stop listening to this, is, fucking, AWESOME.
i believe they are just Alien Beatles
this album is gonna be one of favourite albums of this decade.. it always gets me, over and over again.. will you go off?¿?
I think this is beautiful. the lyrics and music just make an amazing atmosphere and out-of-body sensation, in my opinion...
Lyrics please!!
lyrics?
+Carmine Parisi U have the lyrics?
This guy is one of my best friends. Check out Duskrunner, his latest.
You would post this in 2009 mhw I feel like a stalker even though I didn't even mean for that to happen. I was just trying to find crushed bones by Why? and this is what pops up in recommendations. --FUCK
You stalker.
I really didn't though--I swears. It just popped up in my recommendations, so I clicked the video because I liked Yoni's sweater, and it was posted by you and it really fucking creeped me out. --Holla
lovely
This is one of my favorite tapes ! Mine sadly broke due to my overuse and shitty tape player :/ I guess they're not being printed anymore but if anyone knows where I can buy another please let me know... thnxx
Nevermind way to go scotch tape yaay its fixed. I saw Swanox play an amazing set at the Cakeshop nyc a few years ago and he killed it with just a mic, casio keyboard, Boss Giga Delay pedal, and a flute. Prime example it's not the gear but how you use it - very inspiring
A song about being afraid to risk speaking your mind. How timely.
Somber. I like it,
listen to Clouddead, Doseone, themselves and maybe even Deep Puddle Dynamics They get more rap orientated down the order of that list but if you like why? and hymies basement, you could probably really enjoy these anticon label artists, at the very least cLOUDDEAD
fuck yea thanks for posting !!
The whole album is great, it's on a self titled album. You should be able to find it on Spotify! Cheers
i am an avid why? listener exploring the music of yoni wolf, now moving on to hymie's basement. I'd just like to know the album that this song is on, its amazing.
This song is terrific. I'm so glad I could find it on I-tunes. And yes, the sound of it is significantly similar to ... The Sound.
love the ending. and theres no such thing as a hipster anymore so stop your blabbering ppl
you said it
im hella chill, mah doggie. u mad?
you mad bro?
so hipster that im sitting here rocking polo in connecticut... home and wears of the hipsters. youre all about drake. dont lie, doggie.
I hate drake, hipster guy.
stick with drake and the rest of the degrassi mobstas, troll face.
plenty of normal people listen to WHY?, cLOUDEAD, and Yoni Wolf's solo work. Call it hipster if you like, people enjoy his humor and lyricism, along with his musical talents and production. I think he's a damn genius.
yeah right like boom
Hipster rap? What is this I don't even.
crap.
totally agree- but just for the lol's, the perfect formula is: (TBxPF) + (ES/K) = MM (The Beatles times Pink Floyd) + (Eliot Smith divided by Krakatoa) = Mini Mansions
Taking a listen while the bacon-nettle quiche bakes
Nice!
